Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15 to October 15

This month we’d like to highlight the contributions of Hispanic Americans in science.

Susana López Charretón

Susana López Charretón is a mexican Virologist, who has studied Rotavirus. Rotavirus is a double-stranded RNA virus, which causes nausea and diarrhea. It’s very common in children from 3 months to 3years old. Her research focused on how Rotavirus is spread, our immune response, and how it replicates. In 2012, Susana won the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science international awards for her research.
