Thanks to a $750,000 grant from Gilead Sciences, UCDavis Comprehensive Cancer Center’s – Center for Advancing Cancer Health Equity (CACHE) in partnership with Health Education Council (HEC), a Sacrament non-profit organization founded in 1991, we were able to provide training to bilingual and bicultural promotores for Latino communities in Northern California. The project is being called the “Embajadoras Project, and has trained spanish speaking health outreach ambassadors in 19 counties of the UCDavis Medical Center catchment area.
On Saturday, December 7, 2024 – the first round of 11 Embajadora’s graduated from the program. Nine of 11 Embajadora’s and their families attended a graduation celebration at the UCDavis Genome Center.
Attendees were able to tour the research labs and meet with leading cancer researcher’s at UC Davis.
